The First Tee of Southeastern
The First Tee, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, was created by World Golf Foundation in 1997. This was one of the World Golf Foundation’s first initiatives after its establishment in 1994. At it’s inception, the First Tee’s primary goals were to establish affordable and accessible golf opportunities to the youth throughout the nation and, at the same time, to foster the positive values and life skills associated with the game.
As one of the many legacies of the World Golf Foundation, The First Tee of Southeastern New Mexico’s goal is to provide young people of all backgrounds, particularly those at risk or disadvantaged, the opportunity to develop through golf and character education. We present the opportunity through our after school and summer programming to help meet the needs of significant numbers of today’s vulnerable children and families, to introduce them to networks and support systems, and to produce beneficial changes for significant numbers of children and families in our neighborhoods and communities.
The First Tee uses golf to teach youth life lessons and leadership skills. Teaming up with experts in positive youth development, The First Tee helps youth become good golfers and even better people. The First Tee emphasizes 1) Nine Core Values: Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Courtesy, Sportsmanship, Confidence, Judgment and Perseverance. 2) The First Tee Code of Conduct: Respect for Myself, Respect for Others and Respect for My Surroundings. 3) Nine Healthy Habits: Play, Energy, Safety, Mind, Family, Vision, Friends, and Community. Through golf and core values participants will learn life skills like: Resolving Conflicts and Overcoming Obstacles, Setting up Step-by-Step Goals, Planning for the Future, and Appreciating Diversity. Serving the youth of the Roswell, Hobbs and Carlsbad Communities, We appreciate your support in this year's Boar's Head Fundraiser.
